If you are interested in learning more about self love, but you aren’t sure where to start, today’s blog is for you! Here are some SIMPLE and PRACTICAL ways to practice self love RIGHT NOW. 

1. Respect yourself. 

Honor your feelings. Create boundaries around them. 

You really want to go do something specific on your day off? Go do it! You don’t have to apologize for it or make excuses to do what you want to do. 

Do you feel miserable every time you hang out with that one “friend?” Maybe reconsider your relationship with them, or if you’re feeling bold, express to them how they make you feel. 

You are worthy of respect, and so are your feelings. There is no need to apologize for how you feel or explain yourself to others to make your thoughts and feelings valid. You are worthy of respect just by virtue of being human. 

2. Tune into your body. 

Take a deep breath. Focus inward. 

Find movement that your body thanks you for, not something that makes you engage in negative self talk or comparison. It is not movement for the sake of changing your body or making it more acceptable to others or society.

It is movement for the sake of how it makes your body feel and in celebration of what your body can do.

You don’t even have to leave your house! This will also help calm your nervous system. When you’re finished, record what you did & how it made you feel.

3. Do nothing. 

I mean it! 

Like, rest. For real. Just rest. Do it without your phone or other distractions if you are able. If you find yourself feeling guilty about taking the time and making the space to rest, try to leave it at the door and unpack it at your next therapy sesh. That’s what I do! It can be hard to take time for ourselves, but YOU are worth it, and rest has immediate benefits. You are more than how productive you can be. Honoring your body includes allowing it to rest and recover. 

Showing yourself love doesn’t have to be complicated. You are worthy of honoring yourself through self love.
