Let’s talk about the radiate effect. To radiate is to emit energy, especially light or heat, in the form of rays or waves. I invite you to become more aware of what you are radiating. What feelings, emotions, or vibes are you emitting to the rest of the word? 

Sometimes when we look inward and become conscious of what we are putting out into the world, it can honestly sting a little. The reflection and realization can reveal that we don’t really like what we are putting out there. But here’s something to ponder: YOU CAN CHANGE IT. Consider these actions you could take today. 

1. Radiate kindness 

Compliment someone, ask how their day is, or just say, “thank you,” extra warmly when your barista hands you your drink (because I know you’re grateful for that shit!) 

2. Radiate love

Send an “I love you” to a friend or family member just because ya love ‘em. 

3. Radiate happiness

Smile for no reason. Seriously! I mean it! No fucking reason other than it feels good. Did you know that when you smile for no reason, your brain can’t tell the difference, and it automatically makes you happier?! Just try it! 

4. Radiate peace

Practice mindfulness. Take ten deep breaths and count to give on each inhale and exhale. Become aware of your surroundings by paying attention to where your feet are and the surface you are sitting on. Repeat because it feels REALLY good. 

So, what’s the point of all these actions? 

What you radiate out, comes back to you. 

And what you radiate to others starts a ripple effect. The world has a lot of anger, sadness, and greed. Let’s use the radiate effect to counteract it with small actions of kindness, love, happiness, and peace instead. What small action can you implement today?
