A solo trip is a SOUL trip!

I went on my second annual solo trip in July and it did not disappoint. I purposefully chose the boujee-ist hotel I could find!! The Delta Hotel is where I stayed and I loved it! I also booked a tattoo appointment at the iconic Colley Ave Tattoo, and enjoyed TF outta my own company because it’s ME. It’s crazy how something that used to scare me is now something I RELISH IN.

5 years ago I woulda been like “A solo trip? for what?!!” OR “I could never do that..”

SO BY GETTING UNCOMFORTABLE, I’VE BECOME MORE COMFORTABLE WITH MYSELF. One of my main wants for my life is to be at peace with myself. And because I take the time to move through the discomfort in order to find that peace, the result is… PRICELESS.

A very real question my brain worries about: “BUT WHAT WILL PEOPLE THINK OF ME? BEING ALONE?”
And the answer is: They probably won’t be thinking anything. People probably won’t think the things you think they will. I wouldn’t judge me from the outside for being alone.. so why do I constantly think that other people would?

“BUT WHAT WILL I DO?”
Whatever TF I want. Which is everything to me. So, I ate a nice dinner, read my book on the beach, and then took a luxurious shower.

“BUT WHO WILL I TALK TO?”
If I want to talk to someone, I’ll call my partner, duh. Because there’s no shame in a few minute phone conversation (mostly to see my cats hehe). Or I’ll make a connection with someone at the bar because that’s a thing I love to do!

“BUT WHAT IF I GET BORED?”
I can do whatever I want.. so this was truly something I could solve EASILY.

You see, these common worries, or “what ifs” come from a place of fear. A place of not knowing. And that is very valid. It’s a way that your brain makes you feel safe. By avoiding things that make you fearful. And our brain doesn’t comprehend the difference between actual life threatening events and something that you actually want to do. So, the next time this comes up for you, maybe ask yourself:

“Is living my life worth the discomfort?”
